ALICE MARDEN
Alice Marden (b. 2005) lives and works on Gadigal Land, Sydney, Australia. She has completed a Bachelor of Fine Arts at the National Art School, Darlinghurst, majoring in Printmedia (2025), and is currently completing her Bachelor of Fine Arts (Honours) expected in 2026.
Marden’s practice explores the interplay between the human body and built environments, investigating how architecture shapes, restricts, and subtly contorts movement. Through printmaking, painting, and installation, she examines how space is experienced physically and conceptually, creating work that traces the negotiation between bodies and structures.
Her work has been included in selected group exhibitions, such as the Printmakers Show at Tiliqua Tiliqua Gallery, Enmore (2024), the Bird In Hand exhibition at Leichhardt Gallery (2024), and The Divide exhibition at Alpha House Gallery (2025). She has completed private commissions, including landscape paintings for collectors in Jasper’s Brush and Vaucluse (2025), and a restaurant mural for The Velvet Grove (2023). Her work is also represented in collaborative projects such as the 20 x 20 cm Exchange Portfolio in Sydney.
In addition to her studio practice, Marden has professional experience as an Assistant Printer at Cicada Press in Hornsby, NSW, and as a manager and teacher at Sydney Pottery Studio, where she refined technical skills and developed a collaborative approach to printmaking.
